Monywa & Surroundings

The road from Mandalay to Monywa takes 3hr/150km and offers appealing scenery through farm fields of bean, peas and garlic, picturesque villages, and golden stupas. The Bodhi Tataung and Thanboddhay pagodas, the area’s major attractions, lay just outside of the town. Crossing the Chindwin River, the Po Win Daung ancient cave temple is another remarkable site.
